Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha Atlanta Race Recap

The AMA Supercross Series packed 71,000 Georgia fans into Atlanta’s Georgia Dome for one of the season’s finest races. Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha showed up eagerly awaiting to unleash their lone East coast contingent for the moment, Jake Moss. The day started out fairly well for the Australian rookie by setting the 8th fastest Pre-qualifying time.

Slated into Heat two, Moss salvaged a mediocre start but showed all he had to offer by putting down a super aggressive and inspiring ride up to 4th.

The first Lites East Main Event shot out of the gate, with the NCY backed Moss sitting 6th, and with the poise of good things to come. On lap five, Moss had settled into the pace of racing in the States and began picking up positions which left him in 4th. It was clear he was not done by any means, as the halfway flags neared; Moss had reeled in and taken over the 3rd place spot. With the closing five laps ahead, the Aussie did one better by moving to 2nd on lap 13. However, he now was now dealing with lap traffic combined with securing a spot on the box. The last lap and a half the frustration could be felt by Moss, as he tried to pass a lapped down rider, the rider failed to realize Jake was indeed fighting for a higher position and blocked him out in a corner. In return, #82 slipped to 4th in the last few critical turns and was truly angry.

Looking more into the races outcome, tells two things, first off not many rookies in their first Professional Supercross accomplish a task like Moss did and it shows that good results are about to materialize.
