Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha Anaheim 3 Race Recap

The AMA Supercross Series visited Angel Stadium in Anaheim, CA for the third and last time this season. Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha rookie sensation, Wil Hahn took a liking to a very technical track and slated himself into the night show 12th.

The gate dropped for the second heat race, seeing Hahn mired deep in the field. However, the combination of a first turn pile up and some quick moves allowed the Texan to ease just inside the top ten. For the next five laps, Wilbur laid down some fast times climbing to 5th by races finish.

The 15 lap main event got under way with Hahn securing the 7th position through lap one. On the very next lap, the Factory backed Yamaha pilot moved upwards to 6th, and began his charge to bring in the difference the top five riders had established. On the sixth lap, Hahn found himself in a fierce battle with his older brother, Tommy and series leader, Ryan Dungey. Unfortunately, things came to an abrupt halt when his brother made a pass in the whoops, and #99 bike got off line causing Dungey to land directly on top of him. The results of the crash knocked Hahn out of the race entirely, suffering damage to his bike and body. Amazingly, his injuries will not keep him from racing in San Diego this weekend.

For those of you who will be in So. Cal area Friday evening, be sure to stop by North County Yamaha’s dealer signing and extravaganza.
