Spy Optic’s Paul Carpenter Podiums @ Canadian MX Nationals Opener

Monster/Cernic’s/Kawasaki’s Carpenter, the 2007 Canadian MX Nationals’ MX1 class champ, leads the Spy contingent in B.C.

CARLSBAD, Calif., (June 12, 2009) –  Spy Optic’s Paul Carpenter (Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki) raced to a podium 3rd place finish this past weekend at the opening round of the 2009 Monster Energy CMRC Canadian MX Nationals’ MX1 class at Whispering Pines Raceway in Kamloops, British Columbia.

Carpenter overcame a number of obstacles, including a rough start in the second moto, to make the overall MX1 class podium (3rd/5th for 3rd). “Today didn’t quite go as planned,” he said. “I didn’t ride the race that I thought I could but we still came out with a third overall for the day. I know our team will be ready to go next week and I’m looking forward to battling with these guys again.”

Carpenter’s Spy Optic-backed teammates, Jack Carpenter (Paul’s cousin) and Bob Kiniry, placed 8th and 9th overall, respectively, in the MX1 class.

In women’s pro racing on the Canadian MX Nationals Spy Optic was represented very well by Heidi Cooke who took 1st place overall with a convincing 1st/1st two-moto performance. “I’m very happy with the results this weekend,” she said. “We have worked very hard during this off season and it is nice to see it pay off with a win. We just need to keep the momentum going and continue to ride strong for the rest of the series.”

The Spy Optic racers on the Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki team return to action this weekend for round two of the Monster Energy Canadian MX Nationals at the Wild Rose MX Park in Calgary, Alberta. For more information on the series link to its website at: www.cmrcracing.com
