Press Release

Ryan Dungey - The 5 Spot - Dallas Supercross & LIVESTRONG‏

What a tremendous season of racing
we’ve had this series. It’s been a pretty cool year so far and with
four races to go things are shaping up for a good finish.

Off the track things are going great as
well. This past weekend in Dallas was a huge opportunity for me to get
involved in a cause that is very near and dear to my heart. As some of
you might know, I lost my grandmother to cancer a few years ago and
through my sponsorship with Nike, I’ve been privileged enough to be a
part of the LIVESTRONG cause with Lance Armstrong, who happens to be one of the people I admire most in this world.

Since I lost my grandmother, I’ve
dedicated my career and all the success I’ve achieved in her honor. In
addition to that, I’ve been committed to the fight to find a cure for
cancer and I’ve been looking into starting my own foundation in support
of this for some time. Heading into the Dallas Supercross, I worked
closely with LIVESTRONG to join their Global Envoy Program.  You can click on this LINK to see the official press release or to learn more about LIVESTRONG. The Global Envoy Program is an invitational program on behalf of LIVESTRONG
that allows public figures to become cancer activists. For the first
time in my life, my voice can be heard and can be a driving force
behind the fight that I have such a strong connection to.

As a part of the Global Envoy Program,
I hope to encourage and inspire individuals who are affected by cancer
in addition to those who aren’t while also generating support for the
thousands of cancer survivors across the globe. It is a tremendous
honor that they have selected me to represent not only the sport of
motocross, but also action sports as a whole.

The Dallas round of this season’s
championship served as the perfect place to kick off my involvement
with the Global Envoy Program. With the state of Texas and the city of
Austin serving as the hometown of Lance Armstrong and the LIVESTRONG HQ, I worked closely with Fox Racing to join forces and carry the message of LIVESTRONG
and my support of the cause on my body through my full set of racing
gear. For a change, what happened out on the track took second place to
what I was riding for and I eagerly look forward to my future as an
advocate for cancer survival.
