Rick Elzinga is getting ready for American adventure!

Past Friday (August 27), the 19 year old Rick Elzinga took an airplane to Southern California in the United States. Once in SoCal he and his mechanic, Robert Fobbe were welcomed by Brent Norman. The man who made this American adventure possible.

But it all started with an interview on the news outlet Gatedrop.com, where Rick told the moto community “This is the year I want to try and get into MX2 and a team that is paying me to ride. Right now we have to pay for some stuff and you know, it’s quite expensive. I am at school as well for the meantime which means I am quite busy with everything going on. I really want to get into a team to race MX2 that will pay me to race, this is my dream. If it doesn’t happen, I think I will stop racing at this level and just go to school like I am now. With school and stuff I’m not too busy it’s just I have really limited time

I hope I will get into a good team and one that pays me to race otherwise the dream will finish for me after this year. It would be quite hard to swallow if this would happen and especially with all the injuries I have had.”

This article got posted on one of the biggest American message boards ‘VitalMx’. Uncertain if Rick Elzinga was open to race in the AMA series. Brent contacted Rick with the question: “Are you interested in racing the penultimate round of the AMA Motocross series at Pala?”. After a talk with his TBS Conversions KTM team the young dutchman jumped on the opportunity, an opportunity to showcase his skillset to the American fans and teams.

Now you’re probably asking yourself: “Who’s Brent Norman and what team is he running?”. Brent Norman is an extraordinary human being, who fell in love with motocross and Grand Prix racing back at the 1976 Carlsbad USGP. He’s no team owner neither does he own a dealership. He mailed and called a lot of people these past 10 days. A lot of doors kept closed and some opened. Spending his own money, this man truly believes in the talent of Rick Elzinga and in the added value this AMA National will offer Rick Elzinga in the future.

Due to the efforts of Brent, and the support of American Partners AEO Powersports & XPR Motorsports Rick will be racing the AMA National in Pala and putting down some laps at Glen Helen on Thursday between the biggest names in the sport! Rick Elzinga can also count on the support of his usual partners such as TBS Conversions, Leatt, Fobbe Campers (Motorhomes & RVs) and MXTwente.
He will be racing an brand new KTM SXF 250 with a stock engine. The ECU will be programmed by AEO Powersports. Rick will bring in some “bolt on parts” such as his HGS exhaust and Mika handlebars. He will also bring in his own suspension and have the opportunity to test a other set, this due to the support of AEO and WP.
