Renthal Riders Dominate 2011 FIM World & AMA Motocross Series

Renthal
riders ruled the 2011 motocross season by clinching all three AMA Pro
Motocross titles and all three FIM World Motocross titles. It was
complete domination in every class with the exception of the AMA 450
Motocross class, which came down to the final round at Pala to decide
the victor.

In
the AMA Pro Motocross series, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan
Villopoto had a small lead coming into the final round and a gutsy
performance earned him 2nd
overall for the weekend and his first 450 Motocross title. Monster
Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Dean Wilson had already locked up the
championship a full round earlier at Steel City, but he still came
out and dominated the weekend with 1-1 moto scores. Team Honda’s
Ashley Fiolek completed the sweep of the US series for us by
clinching the title at Pala as well, earning her 3rd
WMX title.

In
the FIM World MX series, Red Bull Teka KTM teammates Antonio Cairoli
and Ken Roczen celebrated their MX1 and MX2 motocross championships a
full round early at the Grand Prix of Germany. This would be
Cairoli’s 3rd
MX1 world title in a row. For Ken Roczen, this was his first MX2
world title and in the process became the youngest rider to ever win
that title. In the MX3 class, a little known rider from Switzerland
named Julien Bill completely dominated the series and took home his
first world motocross title at the final round at the GP of France.
He put together his own privateer effort for 2011 after struggling in
the MX1 class the previous two years and achieved his childhood dream
of becoming a world champion.

Not
since 1996 has a handlebar company won all 5 titles in the motocross
classes in the same year, and it was Renthal back then as well.
Steve Lamson in the 125 class, Jeff Emig in the 250’s for the AMA
series and then in the FIM World MX series it was Sebastian Tortelli
(125), Stefan Everts (250) and Shayne King (500).

“At
Renthal, we truly strive to achieve our motto of building
championships, this year we did just that and we couldn’t be more
appreciative of the hard work each of the teams and riders has put
in.” Thank you to everyone who has helped us achieve the perfect
season this year!” states Brad Cameron, Brand Manager for Renthal.
