Reed & Dungey Race for Anaheim Three-Peat This Saturday

$10.60 Seats Available to Watch Windham, Millsaps, Alessi, Ferry and the Rest of the Stacked AMA Supercross Class Challenge Reed at Final Anaheim Race

AURORA, Ill. (January 29, 2008) – Team San Manuel’s Chad Reed, of Tampa, Fla., and Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., race for a three-peat in Anaheim as the Monster Energy® AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, returns to Angel Stadium this Saturday for the third and final time in 2008. Tickets are now available for the third and final race at Angel Stadium for $10.60 by using the password “POWER” on Ticketmaster.com.

This weekend’s AMA Supercross class race will be broadcast in high-definition technology on CBS Sports Sunday, February 2 at 2:00 p.m. CST. The AMA Supercross class race will air on SPEED Saturday, February 9 at Noon EST.

Media day will be held on Friday, February 1 inside the Diamond Club at Angel Stadium from Noon-2:00, featuring Monster Energy® Kawasaki. Riders will be on hand for interviews and will ride the track for the media.

A win this weekend for Reed can place him with Monster Energy® Kawasaki’s James Stewart as the only riders in AMA Supercross class history to win all three races in Anaheim in the same season. Dungey can join former Western Regional AMA Supercross Lites class champions Ryan Villopoto, Ivan Tedesco and Ernesto Fonseca as the only riders to sweep all three Anaheim races in the same season.

Last weekend at San Francisco’s AT&T Park, three different riders led the action-packed main event, including Red Bull Honda’s Davi Millsaps, of Cairo, Ga., Torco Fuels’ Kevin Windham, of Centerville, Miss., and Reed. Reed captured his third race-win of the season in front of 37,322 fans who attended the rain-drenched race.

“I had a lot of fun out there,” said Reed. “I tried to be consistent on my laps, and I started to jump the triple jump, and that allowed me to make up huge time. I came into the season prepared to lay it down. I want to get these race wins.”

“I had a decent start and moved into the lead and made a stupid mistake like I have been doing all year,” said Millsaps.

Yamaha of Troy’s Jason Lawrence, of Carlsbad, Calif., won the first Western Regional AMA Supercross Lites class race for his career, leading from wire-to-wire.

Current AMA Supercross Lites class points lead Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., rode his Rockstar Makita Suzuki to a disappointing seventh-place finish in the lites class main event.

“I got a pretty decent start in the main, but I made a mistake and went off the track, but got back on and was charging hard,” said Dungey. “I am feeling positive going back to Anaheim; we are going to take care of business.”

Motorsport/Xtreme Kawasaki’s Thomas Hahn, of Alvord, Texas, earned the first podium of his 2008 season, finishing second and earning the $1,000 Progressive Holeshot Award.

“It was a great turnaround for me,” said Hahn. “You have to play it smart. I let everybody go everywhere, and I rode my own race.”

At the opening race of the 2008 Monster Energy® Supercross season at Angel Stadium, Reed captured the first win of the championship, beating reigning AMA Supercross class champion James Stewart. Dungey led the field of Western Regional AMA Supercross Lites riders to victory.

Tickets are still available by phone at 714-740-2000, Angel Stadium Box office, participating Yamaha dealers and all Ticketmaster outlets. Club and Diamond Club seats are $70; trackside seats are $45; upper deck are $35 and $30; select upper deck kids $15. All seats are $2 more on the day of the race. Gates open at 12:30 and the pit party runs from 12:30-5:30 p.m. for the next two races. Pit passes will be available at www.monsterenergy.com.
