Redux Beverages/Brawndo Honda Event Update presented by Kingdom Crown

Wortham, TX

June 8th, 2008

The Toyota AMA Motocross Nationals invaded the great state of Texas this past weekend for round three of the 2008 campaign. Located in a remote area about an hour south of Dallas, this would be the sophomore professional event for the Freestone Motocross Facility. The fans turned out in droves, despite the 100 degree plus temperatures and the trademark central Texas humidity. The conditions would make this event one of the most difficult of the year. Regardless, the team was ready to do battle and looking to do our part to “Mess with Texas”.

“Brawndo” Bob Kiniry was poised to show the Texas fans he is the real deal. He wasted no time, setting blazing fast qualification times and feeling right at home on the mostly flat, yet challenging race surface.

When the gate dropped on moto one, Bob rocketed to the front of the pack on his JR Boyd-tuned 2008 Honda CRF250R. Bob was relentless, passing his way as high as third during the 35-minute dogfight. He jockeyed for position the entire moto, eventually finishing up seventh. Due to an off-track excursion in the closing laps, Bob was penalized one position and was awarded with eighth on the moto.

The second moto didn’t start out quite as well for Bob, although he kept his head down and picked off rider after rider, climbing from nearly last to 14th by moto end. Bob’s 8/14 moto tally awarded him with 11th overall.

“Redux” Ryan Clark was fresh off a great second moto ride at Hangtown one week ago and was looking to keep the momentum going. Ryan struggled with the track, making several bike changes before coming up with a combination that worked for him.

Ryan had a great start in the first moto, but tangled with Ivan Tedesco on the opening lap and went down. From last place, Ryan fought all the way back to 20th, earning one point for his efforts.

The second moto started off much better, as Ryan ripped a top five start from the far outside. He again struggled on the opening lap, relinquishing several positions and failing to find his groove. Ryan finished the moto in a disappointing 18th. His 20/18 moto score rewarded him with 21st overall.

The new recruit, Ryan Grantom, used his home-state race to finally put it in the motos. Grantom had his family and friends on hand to cheer him on, and he used the extra motivation to post and impressive pair of 23rd place moto finishes. He can now build on his experience this weekend and become a fixture in the top twenty in the very near future.

The weekend was a great success for the Redux Beverages/Brawndo Honda squad. A thank you goes out to all of our wonderful fans and supporters in the Lone Star State. We are now headed to Mt. Morris, PA, for the next round of action on June 14th and 15th.
