Red Bull KTMs Mike Brown Earns 3rd at First WORCS Race

Monticello, UT – The newest member of the Red Bull KTM Factory WORCS Team, Mike Brown, earned third overall at the eighth round of the WORCS series this weekend.

The track conditions were perfect for the start of Sunday’s race after a late night rain on Saturday put just enough moisture onto the course. Brown, and his Red Bull teammate, Justin Soulè, both had a great start rounding the first corner in second and third respectively. Red Bull KTM rider, Kurt Caselli, was not in attendance as he is currently in Greece competing on the U.S.A. ISDE Trophy Team.

Brown quickly charged to the front of the pack and held the lead for a lap before dropping back to second. On the third lap, he began to suffer from arm pump and faded back to fifth. Meanwhile, Soulè had also made a couple of mistakes that had pushed him back to sixth.

At the gas stop, Brown had fallen to seventh, but he was beginning to loosen up just in time to fight back and gain some positions before the checkered flag. In an amazing run to the finish he managed to pick off four riders and take home a third place podium finish for his first WORCS event. Soulè rode a steady pace and finished eighth overall.

“I am very happy with Mike’s (Brown) results today. In his first race on his Red Bull KTM he managed to finish on the podium. Based on his results today and the amount of training he has planned to prepare for next season – I think it would be safe to say that he will be a front runner in the 2009 Championship chase,” commented Red Bull KTM Factory Team Manager Antti Kallonen.
