Race win for De Dycker in Holland

First
Dutch moto win for Ken De Dycker!

ONK
Motocross, Heerde - 18 March 2012

A
good crowd turned out to watch the GP stars at the third round of the
Dutch open motocross championship in Heerde. Ken De Dycker raced to
victory in the second moto but was forced to retire in the first and
had to settle for sixth for the day. Teammate Barragan clearly needed
to get used to the rough sand track. In preparation for the Grand
Prix of the Netherlands in Valkenswaard Jonathan gained valuable
experience, in spite of disappointing results.

After
Ken De Dycker posted a strong second time in qualifying, everything
went pear shaped in the first heat for the LS Honda Racing riders. De
Dycker was one of the victims of the first corner pileup, while
Barragan got stuck behind crashed riders as well. Luckily the race
was red flagged and a restart was initiated. This time Ken rounded
the tricky left-right combination after the start around tenth
position. The lanky Belgian quickly moved up to fifth, but
unfortunately he had to pull out of the race because his silencer was
damaged in the earlier crash. Barragan had a bad start, managed to
catch quite a few riders, yet he couldn't be satisfied with his 22nd
position at the end of the 30 minutes +2 lap race.

By
the second moto the track was completely destroyed. To make things
worse, the weather was throwing the riders an additional test as
well! However all of this didn't seem to hurt De Dycker's
performance. From sixth on the opening lap Ken pushed on to grab the
lead. The CRF 450R mounted rider passed Brakke, De Reuver and
Goncalves -clocked the fastest lap of the race early on- and took
command of the moto never to look back. De Dycker came home first in
front of Paulin, Goncalves, De Reuver and Kevin Strijbos. Barragan
had also improved, after a decent start he rode consistently and
finished just outside of the top 10.

Ken
De Dycker, 6th overall:
"It's
always cool to win a race, but I'm not satisfied about the weekend. I
didn't have the right feeling and was riding way too stiff. On the
other hand that track didn't make things any easier! It's a shame
about my DNF in the first moto otherwise I might have taken the lead
in the championship. I hope to improve some more next weekend for the
fourth round of the Dutch championship in Mill."

Jonathan
Barragan, 18th overall:
"Heerde
was very difficult for me, with deep ruts and holes all over the
place. On top of that it had been six months since my last race in
the sand! I'm not looking for excuses because this is exactly the
type of conditions we can expect in Valkenswaard. That's why this was
a great training. Compared to guys like Bobryshev, Goncalves,
Strijbos and Ken -who all have been riding a lot in the sand this
winter- my speed was not good enough. That's quite normal, we'll see
how it goes in Valkenswaard."
