Podium Finishes for Yoshimura

Podium Finishes for YoshimuraMillville, MN – July 20, 2010 – Yoshimura
racers were put to the test at Round 7 of the AMA Pro Motocross series
on Saturday, but they found the power to put themselves on the podium
at the end of the day. Three of the top four racers in the 450 class
were powered by Yoshimura: Ryan Dungey took the win, Andrew Short
nabbed second place, and Kevin Windham powered his way to fourth place
overall.  In the WMX class, Ashley Fiolek took the second spot for the
day after a great battle.

The first moto in the 450 class was spectacular. Kevin Windham, who’s
filling in for an injured Davi Millsaps, rode his Yoshimura-powered
Honda CRF450 to the holeshot and led for the first few laps. Windham
made his 2010 Motocross debut at Spring Creek on Saturday, and he’s
always a fan favorite. His amazing charge at the beginning of the race
got the spectators even more excited than they already were. The fans
were cheering for Windham just as loudly as they were for their
hometown hero Ryan Dungey. Dungey, who raced at Spring Creek throughout
his amateur career, eventually overtook Windham and then went on to put
over 20 seconds between him and the rest of the field. Yoshimura’s
Andrew Short put together a solid race effort and finished third, while
Windham finished the race in fifth place.

The second moto was even more intense, with the heat and humidity
taking its toll on most racers. Except for Ryan Dungey. Dungey and his
Yoshimura-powered RM-Z450 finished the race 40 seconds ahead of the
rest of the pack and looked strong the entire moto. His unparalleled
dedication to training and conditioning allowed him to pull ahead while
others were struggling. Andrew Short wasn’t struggling, though. He
again put in a smooth and consistent race and finished third. Windham
also put together a great set of laps and placed fourth in the second
moto.

With his 1-1 finishes on Saturday, Dungey took the overall and extended
his championship lead to 89 points. He’s now won six races in a row out
of seven and shows no signs of slowing down. Short is behind Dungey in
the points chase, in second overall. Matt Moss put together two great
starts but was unable to hold on throughout the motos. His 29-18
finishes put him in 21st place overall.

Defending WMX Champion Ashley Fiolek took her Honda CRF250 to Spring
Creek with the intentions of winning. The first moto of the WMX class
didn’t go quite as she hoped but she did put herself on the podium and
earn valuable points toward the championship. Fiolek placed third in
moto 1 and was fired up and ready to improve her results in the second
race of the day. Fiolek did just that, winning the second moto and
putting herself in second overall for the day. She’s now just 20 points
out of the lead.

Round 8 of the AMA Pro Motocross series takes place in Washougal, Washington, on July 24th.
