Pirelli Rules Podium Positions at the Motocross Grand Prix of Germany in Teutschenthal

 

Jeffrey Herlings Remains Unbeatable in the MXGP Class and Extends his Lead in the Championship Standings; Jorge Prado Wins MX2 but the Red Plate Still Belongs to Pauls Jonass

 

TEUTSCHENTHAL, Germany (May 21, 2018) – A large crowd welcomed the riders at Teutschenthal for the Grand Prix of Germany, the eighth round of FIM 2018 Motocross World Championship, which was hosted by the historic Talkessel circuit. All the riders equipped by Pirelli tires relied on the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and rear for the German hard-pack and the products once again confirmed their technical efficiency by winning in all classes.   


An unstoppable Jeffrey Herlings won again in MXGP. The Dutchman posted his sixth overall victory of the season by winning the Qualification Heat and both races and brought his championship lead over Antonio Cairoli to 48 points. There was an excellent second place for Tim Gajser who topped Gautier Paulin. The Frenchman Paulin repeated the third place he grabbed in Latvia last week. Romain Febvre performed well and Antonio Cairoli also for fifth and sixth overall.


In MX2 Jorge Prado and Pauls Jonass finished the Grand Prix on equal points but the overall victory belonged to the Spaniard Prado thanks to the second moto win. Jonass continues to lead the championship standings ahead of Prado. Calvin Vlaanderen completed the MX2 podium which was dominated by PirelliThomas Kjer Olsen was eighth overall and maintains third position in the championship.

Thanks to a second place finish in the fourth round of EMX125 European championship at TeutschenthalRene Hofer has extended his margin at the top of the series standings. The Austrian now has a gap of 48 points over his competitors.   In two weeks time, the riders will return to action at the British Grand Prix, which will be hosted at the spectacular Matterley Basin circuit.
