Pirelli Riders Return to Action This Weekend at Unadilla for Pro Motocross

ROME, Ga. (August 11, 2016) – The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship is set to return to racing this weekend in New Berlin, New York for the 10th round of the season at the legendary Unadilla Motocross Park. The star-studded field will be fully rested as they return from a two-week break and prepare for the final three rounds of the rigorous and grueling summer schedule. Located in beautiful upstate New York, riders are often greeted with some of the best weather of the season, however, thunderstorms are a high possibility throughout the day. Pirelli will be prepared for all conditions with its wide-range SCORPION™MX tire lineup, including the MX32™, all-new MX32™ PRO and MX Soft 410.

Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha’s Justin Barcia is a New York native and sure to be one of the most popular riders as thousands of energetic fans cheer him on when he hits the track on Saturday. The past several races have witnessed a spark in his riding, including several moto podiums and a bump to fourth place in the overall standings. “Bam Bam” thrives off of energy and it would not be a surprise to see him lead the 40-rider 450 Class field into the first turn this weekend.

Much like his teammate Barcia, Phil Nicoletti was born and raised in New York, making him one of the fan favorites each time he competes at the hilly circuit. He seems to gel with the familiar soil and has recorded some of his career-best finishes at Unadilla. Weston Peick compliments his fellow JGRMX teammates well and has been on an absolute tear as of lately, which includes a fourth place overall finish at the last round in Washougal.

Rookie sensation Benny Bloss continues to impress and show signs of improvements with each gate drop. The BTO Sports/WPS/KTM rider has gone from beginning the season battling for top-15 finishes to knocking on the door for his first-ever top five. Veterans Andrew Short and Justin Brayton are the perfect balance to the BTO Sports team and both riders have been consistently putting in solid top-10 finishes. Short had a slow start to the season while recovering from injuries, but he’s proven he still has what it takes to hang with the front-runners.

The Privateer Journey Racing (TPJ) team is the heart and soul of American motocross and Pirelli extends their support far beyond the factory race team transporters. TPJ fields several talented riders in both, the 250 and 450 class, all who are given the opportunity to race on the same tires used by the Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha and BTO Sports/WPS/KTM teams thanks to Pirelli’s “we sell what we race, we race what we sell” motto.

Leading the way in the highly competitive 250 Class will be the Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki team that has claimed several strong finishes with Texan Kyle Cunningham and Jimmy Albertson. Luke Clout remains the lone rider for the MAD Racing/Dirt Candy Graphics/Suzuki squad and is looking forward to racing at Unadilla for the first time in his career.

The opening motos from the Unadilla National kick off on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 1pm ET and can be viewed on MAV TV, while second motos can be viewed on promotocross.com at 3pm ET. Check local listings for channel information.
