Pirelli Riders Head to Glendale for First Time on Monster Energy Supercross Schedule

ROME, Ga. (USA) February 4, 2016 – The Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, heads east to Glendale, Arizona and University of Phoenix Stadium this Saturday, February 6, for round 5 of 17. This weekend is the first stop outside of sunny Southern California since the season began just one month ago.

Leading the charge for Pirelli riders is Justin Brayton, the seasoned veteran who has finished inside the 450SX Class top-10 during the first four rounds. He has experienced previous success in the “Grand Canyon State”, which saw him take his SCORPION™MX tires to a second place finish and narrowly miss out on victory in 2014 when the series stopped in Phoenix.

Brayton’s BTO Sports/WPS/KTM teammate, Davi Millsaps, is looking to get himself back in the mix after a couple of bobbles kept him from reaching his potential this past weekend in Oakland. He is a former podium finisher in the 450SX Class at Phoenix in 2013, where he was credited with a third place finish. Expect for him to find his groove again this weekend.

The closing laps of last weekend’s 450SX Main Event witnessed a scary crash for Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha’s Weston Peick.  Fortunately, he escaped injury and will be back on the starting gate in Glendale where he is seeking redemption. JGRMX teammate Phil Nicoletti aims to continue his string of Main Event appearances, placing his #34 Yamaha in each Main Event he has contested as he fills in for the injured Justin Barcia.

TPJ Racing is coming off of a successful weekend, which included multiple riders in the Main Events as Nick Schmidt qualified in the 450SX class and Killian Auberson in the 250SX Class. It marked Auberson’s first Main Event this season. Fellow privateer riders Teddy Parks and Alex Ray continue progressing towards their Main Event goals.

Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki’s Kyle Cunningham is carrying momentum from three consecutive top-10 finishes in the 250SX Class. He currently sits inside the top-10 in the Western Regional 250SX Class point standings, but will be looking to improve as he perfects his starting technique. MAD Racing/Dirt Candy Graphics/Suzuki fill-in rider Luke Clout will be out indefinitely as he recovers from a broken femur suffered in Oakland. Best wishes sent to the friendly Australian on a speedy recovery.

Supercross action from University of Phoenix Stadium gets underway on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 6:00p.m. PT and can be viewed on FS1. Check local listings for channel information.
