Pirelli Riders Gaining Steam as Monster Energy Supercross Heads North to Oakland

Rome, GA. (USA) January 28, 2016– The Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, heads north to Oakland, California and O.co Coliseum this Saturday, January 30, for round 4 of 17. The first of two Northern California stops marks the series’ first trip outside of Southern California since kicking off in Anaheim nearly one month ago.

BTO Sports/WPS/KTM is off to a successful start for the 2016 season, with both, Davi Millsaps and Justin Brayton displaying flashes of brilliance. Millsaps claimed his first 450SX Heat race win of the season this past weekend in Anaheim, which gave him a great gate pick for the Main Event. He took full advantage of his SCORPION™ MX tires by grabbing the 450SX Main Event Holeshot and leading for several laps en route to a season-best seventh place result.

Brayton continues to impress, securing three straight top-10 finishes and multiple 450SX Class Holeshots. Coming off of his season-best eight place finish, expect for the veteran to inch closer to the front-runners as the championship heats up.

Autotrader/Monster Energy/Yamaha’s Weston Peick returned to action over the weekend, wasting no time in joining the battle at the front as he stood atop the podium with a 450SX Semi win. Watch for Peick to continue building momentum and running at the front pack up north. JGRMX fill-in rider Phil Nicoletti was forced out of last week’s Main Event due to a crash, but he will be back this weekend and looking for redemption.

TPJ Racing privateer Nick Schmidt has been on a hot streak as of late, most recently making back-to-back 450SX Main Events. His Pirelli teammates Teddy Parks, Killian Auberson and Alex Ray continue to gain confidence and are knocking on the door of making their first Main Event appearances in 2016.

Motorcycle Superstore Suzuki’s Kyle Cunningham is coming off of a solid seventh place finish in the 250SX Class, his second consecutive top-10 finish, and will be looking to crack the top five on Saturday night. Former Australian MX2 Champion Luke Clout is filling in for the injured Daniel Baker on the MAD Racing/Dirt Candy/Suzuki team. He is looking to improve on his 14th place finish in Anaheim as he lines up for his second-ever Monster Energy Supercross.

Supercross action from O.co Coliseum gets underway on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 7:00p.m. PT and can be viewed on FS1. Check local listings for channel information.
