Pirelli Mathematically Clinches 74th World Title at the Motocross Grand Prix of Trentino

Antonio Cairoli is Victorious in the MXGP Class, While Tim Gajser Keeps the Red Plate. Jago Geerts Wins in MX2 as Tom Vialle Continues to Head the Standings

PIETRAMURATA, Italy (November 1, 2020) – The 'Al Ciclamino' circuit in Pietramurata hosted the Grand Prix of Trentino, Round 16 of the FIM Motocross World Championship and the first of a triple header hosted by the Italian track to close the 2020 season. To tackle the hard terrain, Pirelli riders relied on the excellent performance of SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and rear tires which, combined with a medium mousse, allowed the Italian brand to clinch overall victory and excellent results in both classes.

Pirelli has mathematically won the title in the MXGP class with only two rounds left to run in 2020. Antonio Cairoli claimed the overall thanks to two second places in the motos, while Tim Gajser finished second and retains a 73-point lead in the championship with only 100 left to win. There were strong performances also by Gautier Paulin in fourth who led Jeremy Seewer and Alessandro Lupino who finished fifth and sixth overall.

Pirelli dominated MX2 by filling the top nine positions in the final GP standings. Jago Geerts finished tied on points with Thomas Kjer Olsen but took the win thanks to his second moto triumph. Tom Vialle defended his red plate by finishing third. He maintains an advantage over Geerts of 73-points. Jed Beaton, fourth, and Maxime Renaux, fifth, closed the top five overall positions.

In the last round of the FIM WMX Women's Championship Nancy Van de Ven scored an excellent second place. The Dutch rider ended the series with the same points as the eventual champion but had to settle for the silver medal as the competition was decided by the quantity of moto wins.

Pirelli also stood out in the fourth round of the EMXOpen European Championship thanks to Jimmy Clochet's victory, and who led Davide De Bortoli and Tom MacuksKarel Kutsar continues to front the championship standings ahead of Kim Savaste and Macuks.

In two days the riders will race the same circuit again for the Grand Prix of Pietramurata, the penultimate round of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship.
