Pirelli-Backed Northrop Finishes 12th at Anaheim 2

Sorby Races to 6th-Place Finish in Heat Race to Secure Solid Position in AMA Supercross Main

Rome, Ga. – Before a packed Angel stadium in Anaheim, Calif., Pirelli rider Jeff Northrop, of Murrieta, Calif., finished in 12th place for the third consecutive weekend on the Monster Energy Supercross championship.

“Jeff (Northrop) has been very consistent at the first three races this year, and we are proud of his accomplishments,” said Pirelli MX Manager Josh Whitmire. “We are racing in San Francisco this weekend and hope he can crack the top 10.”

Northrop’s race into the main event didn’t start out as planned, finishing 10th in his heat race before lining up for the last chance qualifier (LCQ). In the last chance qualifier Northrop finished in 4th place and secured a spot for the main event.

Northrop now sits in 12th place in Western Regional AMA Supercross Lites points standings.

In the AMA Supercross class, Pirelli’s Jeff Gibson, who rides for the Cernic’s Kawasaki team, rode to a 16th-place finish in the main event. Gibson, who is now 19th in AMA Supercross class points, finished ninth in his heat race to secure a position in the main event.

MotoXXX/Tamer/Hooters/Honda’s Eric Sorby finished 20th in the main event, but his sixth-place finish in the heat race was very impressive. The Frenchman finished ahead of top AMA Supercross class racers David Vuillemin, Nick Wey and Nathan Ramsey.

Sorby currently sits in 18th place with 10 points.
