Pirelli And Team Leading Edge Kawasaki Podium In Both Mx1 And Mx2 At Opening Round Of Monster Energymotocross Nationals

Nanaimo, British Columbia, June 5, 2012 – Adverse weather conditions contributed to an already tough track for the season opener of the Monster Energy Motocross Nationals in Nanaimo, British Columbia last weekend. Pirelli was on hand with the Scorpion MX family of tires to support all four of Leading Edge Kawaksaki’s riders: Kyle Beaton, Teddy Maier, Matt Goerke and Tyler Villopoto.

In the MX1 class, Goerke charged out of the gate and never faltered, deftly maneuvering his way to a first place finish in both motos. In the MX2 class, veterans and newcomers alike battled for podium position amidst increasingly deteriorating conditions. Maier and Beaton weathered the storm to take first and second place, respectively.

"Nanaimo marked Pirelli's first race back with the Leading Edge Kawasaki Team and to win both classes in the premier Canadian Motocross Championshipsays a lot about the new Scorpion MX tires,” commented Josh Whitmire, Pirelli North America Off Road Manager. “Pirelli choose not to field a team in the Canadian Championship the last two seasons and to win our first race back is very rewarding. The whole LeadingEdge team has been very professional and great to partner with.”

Round two of the 2012 Monster Energy Motocross Nationals continues next weekend, June 9th at Whispering Pines Raceway in Kamloops, British Columbia.
