Press Release

Paris-Bercy SX : a very exciting 28th edition!

« Bercy »
has been, and remains, the most prestigious SX to be organized outside America,
and the 28th edition will undoubtedly perpetuate this legacy.

« It has been
fantastic to be the first and only non-championship Event to present the talent
of James Stewart for our last two editions, but that kind of killed the
suspense for the actual races », admits Xavier Audouard, the man on charge
of lining up the riders for the Paris Classic since 1984...

« New
blood »

« This time,
we want to take advantage of the exciting emergence of new, young, aggressive
and ambitious talent, both on the MXGP and the AMA scenes, to bring new blood
and real suspense to our program ! », continues Audouard. « For this
year's format, we choosed to divide the riders in three teams : USA, Europe and
France. Of course, Bercy remains an individual race, but we also like to see it
as some sort of SX « Rider's Cup » and to give it a touch of
international rivalry flavour, like the MXON »...

Bercy is ran under
an « Open » format, which means each rider has the choice to
participate in either MX1 or MX2 machinery, as the track set inside the Palais
Omnisport is a mix of sharp corners and fast sections inside the infamous
« tunnels ».

Tony &
Ken...

The European
riders will have the best possible leaders in both classes, as none other than
Antonio Cairoli and Ken Roczen have confirmed their participation. Both of them
are obviously naturally-gifted for Supercross, while, at the same time, somewhat
lacking experience, at that level... But Tony and Ken are the kind of champions
to jump on a challenge when they see (an interesting) one ! They also both have
US SX in mind for their future, and see Bercy as a mandatory first step to gain
experience for this tough challenge.

Roczen's teammate
and promising talent from Switzerland, Arnaud Tonus, will join them under the
European flag, while the other two « Euros » will be Max Anstie, who
is two-time « Prince of Bercy » in 85cc and 125cc, the last man being
probably Tommy Searle, Anstie's future teammate at CLS-Pro Circuit-Kawasaki.

« Marv'
et les Français »

The French squad
will be led by MX2 superstar Marvin Musquin, en route to his second World
Champion title and to his US SX adventure as well... Marvin loves Bercy and had
some very impressive showings last year : « this time I will have a
full-on SX Factory machine that KTM is currently building, and I know I can do
better than last year, which means being at least on the podium », said
« Marv' Attack »...

Gautier Paulin,
another MX2 star and SX-enthusiast, Greg Aranda, sensational third overall at
last year's Bercy, and Fabien Izoird, two-time European SX champion and leader
of the current French SX Tour, will be Musquin's official French teammates for
the week-end (two other French riders will qualify each night from the SX Tour
race).

Newcomers of
USA

« For the US
team, we are shooting for mostly newcomers », says Audouard. « Trey Canard
has already shown his huge potential in the 450 SX class, while I consider
Justin Barcia as « Damon Bradshaw » material, which says it all about
how exciting he is to watch racing ! I will complete this five-man US team with
probably another 450 regular -Davi Millsaps comes to mind but there are other
names- and two more youngsters with profiles such as Eli Tomac's, Blake
Baggett's, Kyle Regal's or Blake Wharton's, but no final choice is made yet.
The one sure thing is that Bercy's 2010 line-up will be the most exciting
in years, and the King of Bercy title totally unpredictable, which means the
fans will be treated to a great show !», concludes Audouard.

The FMX show
will rock !

Speaking about
show, one must remind that Bercy is both a top-notch SX race and FMX event !

The Freestylers
for this edition will be the man leading the prestigious « Red Bull
X-Fighters » series, Andre Villa, Metal Mulisha's and recent X-Games
medalist « Taka » Higashino,  the always-classy Eigo Sato and
the two French sensations, Charles Pagès and Jey Rouanet.

French
Legends

To complete this
already fantastic pool of talent, Bercy will also feature a tribute-exhibition
and gathering of French heroes...

All former French
World Champions will be on the site - most actually riding : Mickaël Pichon,
Sébastien Tortelli, Fred Bolley, Yves Demaria and Mickaël Maschio...

Jean-Michel Bayle,
Jacky Vimond, Stéphane Roncada, among others, have set the Palais Omnisport on
fire in their time too, they will be there and all will sign autographs for the
fans in the pits !
