Oakley Supports 3rd Annual Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross at Daytona




Morgantown, W. Va. (March 9, 2012) - MX Sports is pleased to welcome back Oakley as a supporter of the 3rd
Annual Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross at Daytona,
taking place Sunday, March 11 and Monday, March 12 in Daytona, Fla. This
two-day amateur racing event follows Saturday night's Daytona
Supercross By Honda, where the fastest pro racers in the world will
compete on the hollowed grounds of Daytona International Speedway.





As a longtime
sponsor of Ricky Carmichael's racing efforts, and continued supporter of
his current program, Oakley has been an avid supporter of this
Carmichael-endorsed event since the beginning in 2010.





"Oakley has
been involved in amateur motocross for quite some time now and we at MX
Sports value their participation in amateur racing," said Tim Cotter, MX
Sports Event Director. "It's also great to see so many of Ricky's
personal sponsors step up to support this event, helping this race to
become the premiere amateur supercross in the world."





Registration
will be available at the event and move-in for amateur racers will take
place throughout the day Saturday. On Sunday, Amateur practice begins at
7:30 a.m., followed by Rider's Meeting and heat races. If time permits,
last chance qualifying sessions (LCQ) will begin on Sunday afternoon.
Monday morning kicks off with the remainder of LCQ's and Main Events
will follow.

About Ricky Carmichael





Ricky
Carmichael won 102 American Motorcycle Association (AMA) Motocross
Nationals and 48 AMA Supercross main events for a record 150 major wins
between 1997 and 2007. The Tallahassee, Fla., resident won 10 AMA
Motocross Championships and five AMA Supercross crowns, giving him a
record 15 major titles in his career. After retiring from professional
motocross racing, he began pursuing a career in auto racing and was
named the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Most Popular Driver.
Currently, Carmichael can be found in the TV booth providing color
commentary on CBS and Speed's Supercross coverage. As for motocross, he
will forever be known as "the Goat," which stands for greatest of
all-time.
