Murrieta, CA – KTM North America is proud to announce Oakley as the latest partner of the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge Program, the most highly anticipated exhibition show of the Monster Energy Supercross Series, and the Red Bull KTM Factory Team.
After a five year hiatus, the KTM Junior Supercross Challenge Program re-launched at the Anaheim III Supercross event. The program is designed to give 7 and 8 year old riders a chance to experience a day in the life of a professional racer. The rider’s participate in their own rider’s meeting, track walk, practice sessions, autograph signing, opening ceremonies and race in a 3-lap main event on identically prepared KTM 50 SXS motorcycles.
As a program partner, Oakley will provide a free pair of goggles to each participant for all 7 rounds of the program. With Oakley as a sponsor, the young riders are not only riding the same motorcycle as one of their idols, Red Bull KTM rider Ryan Dungey, but they are also wearing the same goggles.
Oakley has also supplied all of the team clothing for the Red Bull KTM Factory Team and is also a personal sponsor of Red Bull KTM rider Ryan Dungey.
“It’s our honor, and a natural fit, for us to support such a great youth initiative that aims at grooming the future generation of riders,” said Anthony Paggio, Oakley’s two wheel motorsports manager. “Oakley’s heritage is rooted in motocross – and from the beginning, we’ve been dedicated to the growth and progression of the sport, starting from the grassroots level. Our friends at KTM, and our very own Ryan Dungey, share that passion with us. This makes for a real dream opportunity for the youngsters – one of which may be the next Dungey.”
