Press Release

Nagl and Roczen to conquer home soil

FUNCHAL
(Portugal), 6 July 2011 – The FIM Motocross World Championship travels
this weekend to Teutschenthal, Germany, where it will take place ninth
round of the season. Antonio Cairoli arrives as the new leader of the
MX1 class and Ken Roczen is looking forward to handing an overall win to
his home fans and keep the leadership of the MX2 series.

Christophe
Pourcel, who has recently joined the CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro
Circuit Team, will be at the starting grid of the MX1 class in
Teutschenthal this weekend and he will be able to race again against
Cairoli, as they both did in the MX2 class back in 2007.

The UEM EMX-125 championship will also be present this weekend in
Teutschenthal to celebrate the third round of the series. Simone
Zecchina is still leading the point standings, but his compatriot
Samuele Bernardini showed last weekend in Uddevalla that he is ready to
take the red plate from Zecchina’s bike.

MX1
Red
Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Cairoli will ride this weekend with
the red plate on his 350cc KTM machine for the first time this 2011
season. The Italian did not take the overall win in Uddevalla, but his
second overall position and the fact that Desalle was just seventh made
Cairoli obtain the red plate. Cairoli was just fourth in Germany last
weekend, so he is looking forward to an overall win and increase the
point difference with his pursuers.

Second in the MX1 Championship is Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1’s
Desalle, who arrived in Uddevalla with a shoulder injury and left Sweden
with both shoulders injured, a knee injury and a cut on his left hand
due to several crashes he suffered during the Grand Prix. Desalle is now
ten points behind Cairoli, but he is mentally very strong to fight for
the overall victory and regain the red plate as soon as possible.

The third place of the MX1 Championship is for Monster Energy Yamaha’s
Frossard, who dominated the Swedish Grand Prix with great authority. The
French is now 22 points behind Cairoli, so the MX1 World Championship
is still wide open.

Home rider Max Nagl from Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX1 is fourth
in championship and although he is having great results during
Saturday’s qualifying races, he struggles a lot during the Grand Prix.
Riding home can help Nagl to be back at the podium and even be fighting
for the first step of the rostrum.

Honda World Motocross’ Bobryshev obtained was on the second step of the
podium for the first time in the MX1 class and he is now focused to win a
Grand Prix and keep on fighting for the Title. The Russian admitted
that the German track is not one of his favourites, but he will do his
best to have another podium finish in Teutschenthal.

Ken De Dycker seems to have found his place again in the MX1 class and
last weekend he finished fourth overall. Last year, the Belgian went out
with the overall victory in Teutschenthal, so De Dycker may be able to
fight again for the top positions in the MX1 class.

MX2
Home
rider Roczen from Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2 team finished
second overall last year in Teutschenthal, as he struggled with his
goggles during the first heat. The German dominated the second race and
was able to be on the second step of the podium. For this reason, Roczen
has extra motivation this weekend to take the overall win and hand his
home crowd his fifth GP victory of the season.

His teammate Herlings has been working really hard on his starts in
order to be ahead of Roczen in the first laps and try to keep the lead
until the chequered flag. Herlings won the qualifying race last year in
Teutschenthal, but for technical problems he could not finish race one
and ended eighth in the second heat.

CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Searle is third in the MX2
World Championship, but it seems that the bad luck keeps on following
the British rider. Last weekend, he got another DNF in the first heat
and he could only finish 11th. Searle needs an overall victory this
weekend if he wants to keep on fighting for the MX2 World Title.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Gautier has been a consistent rider on the
podium in the last GP and he is now just ten points behind Searle. The
French was able to ride at the front with Roczen during the Swedish
Grand Prix and he is now looking forward to his maiden GP victory of the
season.

American rider Zach Osborne has dropped some positions in the
championship and he is now fifth, 42 points behind Gautier. Osborne has
missed the podium in the last Grand Prix and he had a DNF in the first
heat of the Spanish GP. The Bike-it Cosworth Wild Wolf Yamaha rider has
good memories of Teutschenthal as he succeeded in being third overall
last season.

EMX125
After
the Swedish round last weekend, the UEM EMX125 series also travel to
Germany to celebrate the third round of the Championship. The two
Italian riders, Simone Zecchina and Samuele Bernardini, are the clear
dominants of the championship, but riders such as Tim Gajser, James Dunn
or Jeremy Seewer have also shown their talent in the first two rounds
and they will use any mistake of the Italians to be on the first step of
the podium.
