Mullins Extends Points Lead With GNCC Penultimate Win

Thor
riders showed their speed on both sides of the country this weekend, as
GNCC Racing held its penultimate round in Crawfordsville, Ind., and the
desert racers of the West Coast competed in the final round of the AMA
National Hare and Hound season in Lucerne, Calif.

Thor rider
Charlie Mullins grabbed his fifth win of the Can-Am GNCC Racing season,
helping him extend his points lead to 38 points over second in the XC1
championship standings. While the Crawfordsville round is scheduled to
be the season finale, Mullins will have to maintain his points lead for
one more weekend, as the GNCC racers head to Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in
Hurricane Mills, Tenn., on November 6, to make up for the rained out
fifth round in April.

Also
showing speed during the Ironman in Indiana was KTM Racing, and Thor
rider, Russell Bobbitt, who just missed the top-five with a sixth-place
finish. His teammate Cory Buttrick wasn’t far behind, posting an
eighth-place effort.

Out west, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Destry
Abbott showed he’s still a force to be reckoned with, as he earned his
second runner-up finish of the AMA/Kenda National Hare and Hound season,
during which the veteran finished off the podium just once in nine
rounds. As the season came to a close, Abbott finished third in the
final championship standings, just one point out of second.

Newly-crowned
AMA/Kenda National Hare and Hound Champion, and Thor rider, Kurt
Caselli took the weekend off from racing, following a hard crash he
endured at Round 9 of the WORCS series. The extra rest will allow
Caselli time to heal up and go after the WORCS championship at the final
round from Speedworld MX Park in Surprise, Ariz., on November 4-6.
Caselli currently leads the Pro class by 41 points over second place.
