MotoConcepts Racing Toronto Race Report – 2 Top 10 Finishes

Spokane, Wash. (March 31, 2009) – MotoConcepts Racing (MCRMX) had one of their most successful stops of the 2009 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series in Toronto, Canada this past Saturday night.  With three riders advancing to the main and two top ten finishes, MCRMX is continuing to enjoy success in only their first year of professional racing.

Rookie Vince Friese nabbed his first career top 10 with an 8th overall.  The 18-year-old piloted the first Honda CRF250 across the finish line.  Friese cruised through heat race number one finishing 6th to advance to the main.  Great starts have helped the Missouri native ride up front for the majority of the races this year.  With only one round remaining in the 250 East class, Friese is 15th overall.

In the 450 class, Frenchman Ben Coisy returned to his top ten form with a 10th place finish in the main event.  An excellent start for the 5-time French Supercross Champion in heat race number one, moved him to the main with a 6th place finish.  Toronto was the third top 10 finish of the year for Coisy.  After 13 rounds of racing, Coisy is 15th overall and in the running for Privateer of the Year.

Tyler Bowers, who just celebrated his 18th birthday on Sunday, continued his streak of main events with a 7th place finish in heat race number two.  Since joining MCRMX, the Kentucky native has made the last six straight main events.  A 16th place finish in the Toronto main moved Bowers into the top 20 in points, at 20th overall.

Heath Voss was part of some of the best racing of the night and just missed advancing to the main event by five hundredths of a second in the LCQ.  The Texas native tasted some of the rutted Toronto soil in heat number two, finishing 12th.  After leading the majority of the LCQ, the racing got very tight between Voss and Nick Wey for the second transfer spot to the main.  After swapping positions back and forth for the last lap, both riders flew across the finish line side by side.  Wey was just a tick ahead and advanced, while Voss settled for the gas card.  Voss is now 13th overall and in second place for Privateer of the Year.

“It was great to get two of our guys back in the top ten,” stated Team Manager, Steve Lamson.  “Friese got his first top ten, Coisy got back there again, and Bowers continues to make mains and progress. We nearly put four riders in the main, so it was a good overall stop for MCRMX.”
