MotoConcepts Racing Jacksonville Race Report

Spokane, Wash. (March 31, 2009) – MotoConcepts Racing (MCRMX) heads into the Easter break after mixed results in Jacksonville, Florida.  The team will enjoy a weekend off in preparation for the April 18th Seattle race in MCRMX’s home state of Washington.

The night appeared to start on a positive note as Rookie Vince Friese had a strong start in heat race number two and cruised to a 4th place finish.  In the main Friese also nailed the start, and was in second place heading into lap number two when his engine seized up, ending his night with a 20th place finish.  The Missouri native finishes the 250 East class in a tie for 15th place overall.  Back in California, #719 is now preparing for the outdoor series and the East/West Shootout in Vegas May 2nd.

In the 450 class, Supercross veteran Heath Voss regained the lead in the race for Privateer of the Year with a 9th place finish in the main.  Voss also got a good start in the main and was in the top ten for the entire race.  With three rounds remaining, Voss is in 12th place overall.

Teammate Ben Coisy didn’t get the start that Voss did and had to work his way forward all night.  Coisy did just that and moved from the back of the pack to a 12th place finish.  Number 979 is now only two spots behind Voss at 14th overall and definitely in the chase for Privateer of the Year.

Tyler Bowers just missed making the 450 main, a couple times.  In heat race number one, the Kentucky native finished 10th, and missed a transfer to the main by one position.  Then in the competitive LCQ, Bowers was in second with a comfortable lead before stalling the bike and dropping to 5th, thus ending his night of racing.  The 18-year old 450 rookie is currently 21st overall.

“Strong finishes for Voss and Coisy were balanced out by frustrating nights for Friese and Bowers,” stated Team Manager, Steve Lamson.  “The Easter break will be nice for the mechanics and riders.  Everyone is out in SoCal now, testing for outdoors and preparing for Seattle.”
