Moss wins for JDR Motorex KTM at Wodonga MX Nationals round

JDR
Motorex KTM’s Matt Moss has extended his lead in the Pro Lites
category of the Rockstar Energy Drink MX Nationals after taking
victory at Wodonga in Victoria on Sunday, 3 July.

The talented
23-year-old now enjoys a stunning 58-point lead in the championship
with just two of nine rounds remaining, finishing with 3-3-2-2
results today.

“It feels really good to win and consistency
is so important in this championship,” Moss explained. “My starts
weren’t so great today, although I did hurt my shoulder in moto
two.

“The bike was working awesome though and those two
second places to finish the weekend were really good. Extending my
series lead was the plan and we were able to do that.”

Moss’
JDR Motorex KTM teammate Brenden Harrison finished seventh for the
round with 8-9-4-3 results, now focused on returning to the podium at
Moree’s penultimate round in three weeks.

“Today I
struggled with aggression in the first few races,” Harrison said.
“I felt like my speed was good, I just wasn’t taking advantage of
it. I got better starts in the second pair of motos and my results
definitely improved from there.

“I would like to win a race
because I haven’t won this year, but there’s still a lot of races
to go. I’m just ecstatic with the team again, I can’t thank them
enough and we’ll keep moving forward from here.”

The
Wodonga round also marked a difficult one for Josh Cachia, the
Victorian rookie finishing 11th overall with 11-11-5-11 finishes.
Cachia, who is last year’s Under 19s champion, suffered throughout
the round with a serious case of arm-pump.

“I don’t like
to make excuses, but it was just really tough out there today with my
arms pumping up even though my starts were okay,” Cachia reflected.

“There wasn’t much I could do, it was just so hard riding
like that, but I’m not giving up and look forward to Moree. Moto
three was a good result though and good for the team.”

In
the Pro Open category, Herb Watson Racing KTM’s Louis Calvin was
ranked top KTM contender in 10th overall. The top privateer, from
Western Australia, rode to 12-6-13-12 results for the round and is
currently ranked ninth in the standings.

Lone JDR Motorex KTM
team entrant Dan Reardon was credited 16th for the round despite
skipping the final pair of motos with a wrist injury when rain set in
for the afternoon.

Earlier in the day, Reardon rode to 12th
in moto one and seventh in moto two, but the 2007 series champion
will now visit specialists in order to try and heal his wrist for the
year’s end.

“At the moment my wrist isn’t doing me any
favours, making it really hard on the team and I,” Reardon said.
“We’ll make a decision in what we need to do from here, but I’m
just really disappointed, that’s for sure.”

Reardon’s
regular teammate in the Pro Open class, Ryan Marmont, will sit out
the final rounds of the MX Nationals after undergoing ankle surgery
last month.

In the Under 19s development category it was
Eco-Pest Control KTM’s Dan Banks the top KTM runner in ninth
overall, while former world champion Jay Wilson’s two-round win
streak was broken as he was scored 10th overall for Coastal KTM.

The
series will continue at Moree in New South Wales on Sunday, 24
July.
