Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki puts a Rider on the Series Podium in Both Classes with Series Finale at Walton

Maier, Politelli lead
the way in inaugural season racing both classes

Kamloops, BC(August 23, 2011) The
2011 Monster Energy CMRC Canadian Motocross season wrapped up this
past weekend at Walton, Ontario’s Walton Raceway and the Monster
Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki team came into the race looking to
secure an overall series podium position in both classes with their
riders, Teddy Maier(MX1) and Austin Politelli(MX2).

One of the crown jewels of the Canadian
circuit, the Walton facility is always a highlight of the season and
the riders were excited to hit the track but Mother Nature had other
ideas. Heavy rains, hail and high winds left the track a mess but the
riders went out and gave it all that they had.

In MX2, Politelli came into the weekend
sitting third in the MX2 championship and put his considerable mud
skills to use as the California native grabbed second overall on the
day on the strength of his 3-2 moto scores. The finishes sealed his
overall podium position in the series, a great result for his rookie
season. Said Politelli on his season, “ I’m glad to finish on the
podium in my first season in Canada. I’ve had a great time racing
up here this summer and I can’t thank the Leading Edge team enough
for giving me this opportunity.” Finishing behind Politelli in
fifth place in the final series standings was Moncton winner and
fellow California native, Tyler Sjoberg, who also impressed in his
debut Canadian season.

The MX1 class proved to be an almost
mirror image of their MX2 counterparts as Teddy Maier grabbed third
overall in the standings, a great result in his rookie season in the
MX1 class. Finishing in fifth place was his teammate and Gopher Dunes
winner, Matt Goerke, who rebounded well from his early season
injuries to finish the season off strongly.

Said team owner, Jason Hughes, of their
season, “ With our first season fielding an MX1 and MX2 season our
goal was to be on the podium in both classes and we did just that.
I’m proud of everyone on our team for all their hard work and to be
able sweep all four motos at Gopher Dunes was beyond my wildest
dreams. I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish in 2012!”

The team now shifts their focus to the
annual Montreal Supercross at Montreal, Quebec’s Olympic Stadium on
October 1st.
