Monster Energy Leading Edge Kawasaki Victorious at Riverglade

Tyler
Sjoberg takes first Canadian win with MX2 victory in Moncton, New
Brunswick

Kamloops, BC(Aug 1, 2011) Round
seven of the 2011 Monster Energy CMRC Canadian Motocross series saw
the team head to the east coast as the series made its annual
Maritime stop at the Riverglade MX Park near Moncton, New Brunswick.
With heavy rains on Saturday, it was looking like it might be another
mud race but when the sun came out for Sunday morning, the Riverglade
crew worked hard to create a perfect track for everyone to race on
and it paid off for the team.

Things started off on the right foot as
Austin Politelli grabbed the early lead in the first MX2 moto and
started to distance the pack. Unfortunately, he’d tip over and lose
a few positions but he would remount and immediately work his way
back to the front, getting all the way to second by the end of the
moto. Right behind him was his teammate, Tyler Sjoberg, who despite
getting hit above the eye by a rock and suffering a large cut, was
able to gut out a third place finish.

With his eye patched up, Sjoberg was a
man on a mission in moto two as he worked his way by early leader
Kaven Benoit to take the lead and from there he charged hard to take
his first ever moto win. His 3-1 scores were good enough to give him
his first ever Canadian National win. Politelli came through in
fourth to take fourth overall on the day.

In MX1 action, last weekend’s podium
finisher, Matt Goerke, picked up where he left off as he rode another
strong race to take third place in the first moto. Teddy Maier was
battling for third when he went down and had to remount in ninth
before working his way up to fifth. The second moto unfortunately saw
some bad luck for Goerke as the first moto podium finisher would be
claimed in a first turn crash and unable to continue after tweaking
his wrist. He had it checked out though and luckily should be ready
to go for next weekend’s race. Maier this time was the man to put
the KX450F on the box as he rode a strong moto to take third place in
the moto and overall. The third podium of the season for the Iowa
native strengthened his grip on third place in the Championship
standings.

Now the series heads to our Nation’s
capital as round 8 comes to the Sand Del Lee motocross facility just
outside of Ottawa, in Richmond, Ontario next weekend. For more
