Monster Energy Kawasaki's Stewart and Ferry to Skip X Games to Focus on AMA Motocross Championship

IRVINE, Calif. (July 31, 2007) – Monster Energy Kawasaki riders James Stewart and Timmy Ferry will not be participating in the 2007 X Games in Los Angeles in order to keep their focus on the AMA Motocross Championship series.

Stewart and Ferry are currently just seven points apart at the top of the point standings with just four rounds remaining.

“We understand the exposure and excitement that the X Games offer, however, our number one goal is to win the AMA Motocross Championship,” said Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Manager Mike Fisher.

“Racing on an indoor course requires different bike set-up and riding techniques. And with the series championship this close, we just don’t have time to properly prepare for both events. With only two remaining breaks in the series, we will ask our riders to continue preparing for motocross.”

Stewart currently holds the AMA Motocross standings lead with 290 points.  Teammate Ferry is close behind with 283, as they prepare to close out the season.  They will be racing four out of the next six weeks, beginning with next weekend’s event in Millville, Minn.
