Monster Energy Kawasaki's James Stewart Hits the Jackpot in Las Vegas

Las Vegas (May 5, 2007) – Monster Energy Kawasaki rider James Stewart captured his 13th win of the season at the final round of the Amp’d Mobile Supercross series at Sam Boyd Stadium.

After clinching both the AMA Supercross and the World Supercross titles a week ago in Seattle, Stewart came to Las Vegas looking to finish out an amazing season. He went out and put in yet another dominating performance winning by a 16.458-second margin.

“With thirteen wins on the season and two titles, I couldn’t really ask for more,” said Stewart. “It’s phenomenal. And now we get to head into the outdoor season with a lot of momentum and another championship to chase.”

Teammate Timmy Ferry, who locked up third in both the AMA Supercross and World Supercross standings, rode to a solid sixth-place finish.

In the East/West AMA Supercross Lites shootout, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Chris Gosselaar and Darcy Lange rode strong races against a gate stacked with the best of the best in the lites division and finished in the seventh and ninth positions, respectively.

Teammates Ryan Villopoto and Ben Townley were both struck by bad luck on the opening lap of the main event. Villopoto was hit by another rider damaging his rear brake line and was forced to head back to the pits. Townley got a rock wedged in his chain guide causing the chain to derail. Although he was able to remount the chain and get back in the race, he was pulled off the track by his team who felt it was unsafe to continue.

Cernic's Kawasaki rider Paul Carpenter put in a solid 13th-place finish in the AMA Supercross class and captured seventh in World Supercross GP and 10th in AMA Supercross season standings. Teammate Jeff Gibson finished a few spots behind in 17th and took home 10th in the World Supercross GP and 11th in the AMA Supercross for the 2007 season.

MotoSport Kawasaki's Steve Boniface finished in the 13th position in the East/West AMA Supercross Lites Shootout while teammate Bobby Kiniry took home 16th.
