Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green™ WMA Riders to Challenge for X Games Gold

Irvine, Calif. (July 28, 2008) – Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green™ WMA riders Tatum Sik and Mariana Balbi will compete in the inaugural Women’s Moto-X at X Games 14 on August 2.

Both Balbi and Sik compete in the AMA/WMA Women’s Motocross Championship Presented by Kawasaki and both are currently in the top-10 in the season’s points standings.

The ESPN X Games supercross style event will be a change of pace for the Team Green riders as they have been riding motocross events all summer. While a motocross event is more of a test of endurance, the women’s moto-x event will be more of a sprint race.

“When I got the call inviting me to X Games, I didn’t believe it,” said Sik. “I’m really stoked to ride on ESPN. Since I was invited, I’ve been working on my supercross skills. I’ve been jumping triples and even messing around with a couple of freestyle moves.”

Balbi earned a podium finish during the second event of the season at Freestone County Raceway in Texas, while Sik has a season best finish of fourth overall. During the most recent event at Washougal, Wash., Balbi went 4–5 in the motos for fourth overall and Sik finished 6-10 for eighth overall. Balbi is currently sixth in the series’ standings and Sik is seventh.

The Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green ladies will take to the track on Friday, August 1 for seeding with the main event for Women’s Moto X scheduled for Saturday, August 2 at 1:15 pm.
