Lake Whitney, Texas (March 17, 2008) – Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green riders dominated the first amateur national of 2008 by winning 13 championships at the Lake Whitney Spring Classic in Lake Whitney, Texas last weekend. The Kawasaki riders also brought home an additional 15 podium finishes on top of their championships.

Dominance

Last year at Lake Whitney, Kawasaki was struck with a string of injuries. This year was different and Kawasaki made their presence known by winning a leading 13 championships and another 15 podiums.

“Winning this many titles right out of the gate just proves the commitment Kawasaki’s Team Green has for racing and the rider it supports,” said Amateur Motocross Supervisor Dave Gowland. “I am confident we can carry this momentum into Oak Hill this upcoming week.”

Three Championships!

Adam Cianciarulo was in great form over the week as he won three championships on his Kawasaki KX™85. He took the Jr Supermini 9-11, 85cc 9-11 Modified and Stock classes to finish with a championship in every class he entered.

“My race on Sunday morning was really muddy and I got a bad start,” said Cianciarulo. “But I knew that the rider in the lead had a third in the moto before so I just needed to get up to second and ride smart. My second race was great and the track was just how I like it.”

Two Championships!

Motosport Xtreme Team Green rider P.J. Larsen finished the weekend with two championships in the 4-Stroke Open Skill and MX A Pro Sport classes. After signing a few important autographs for his new fans, he talked about his championships.

“I really tried to get a good start and ride consistent,” said Larsen. “I’m really happy to walk away with two titles. The more I ride, the better I feel so I can’t wait for Oak Hill.”

One Proud Papa

Although Gowland’s own children aren’t riding, he often looks like a proud father every time one of his riders earns the top honors of a championship. Gowland continues to stick behind the riders he has carefully picked out for Team Green.

“I couldn’t be happier or more proud of my riders and their performance on and off the track,” said Gowland.

Always Humble

When a rider is as successful as Cianciarulo, it’s hard to believe that all the winning hasn’t gone to his head. Reality is that he has one of the most humble attitudes that can be found in the pits.

“Going into next week there is supposed to be a lot of rain,” said Cianciarulo. “I guess being in the mud this morning really helped me a lot. I definitely am confident about the race next week, but I want to stay humble and work really hard. Hopefully I’ll go into Oak Hill, get some starts and get a few more titles.”

Where’s Ryan?

Over the weekend, the Team Green support staff had a visit from their former crew member Ryan Collins. The group had a cut out of Collins made so he could be a part of the amateur nationals just like he would want to be. Although Collins isn’t on the road, he will be popping up in pictures all over the United States.
