Riverside, CA (July 16, 2007) – Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki’s Jeff Gibson
scored his first CRMC Motocross Nationals podium finish this weekend at round six in
Nanaimo, BC. His third overall finish also moves the Ohio rider into third place in
the current championship standings with three races remaining. Current championship
points leader Paul Carpenter retains the overall championships points lead with a
fifth overall.
“I got some good starts today and rode as hard as I could,” said Gibson after his
podium finish. “However, the track was very tough so I knew I had to ride smart and
stay on two wheels. In the end, it all worked out so I’m happy with the results.”
“I struggled with the track all day,” explained Carpenter. “Poor starts and
crashes just added to my frustration for the weekend. In the end, I only lost a few
points in the championship points so that is the main thing. Our goal is that
championship right now and the entire team is working really hard to achieve that
goal.”
The teams MX2 entry, Tucker Hibbert was on his way to another great finish until a
large rock caused his clutch to malfunction as he was leading the second moto. He
would eventually finish in twelfth overall.
The Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki Racing Team has a long break before resuming their
championship chase at Riverglade MX Park in Moncton, New Brunswick, for round seven of
the CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals.
