Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki Heads To Canada to Defend Title

Riverside, CA (May 22, 2008) - The Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki Team is making their return to Canada to defend their CMRC Monster Energy Motocross National Championship. Jeff Gibson and Dusty Klatt will be looking to defend the MX1 Class Championship that the team earned in 2007, and Heidi Cooke joins the team to defend her title in the Womens class.

Both Gibson and Klatt are healthy and ready to race after competing in the seventeen race U.S. Supercross Series. The addition of the defending Womens Motocross Champion, Heidi Cooke is also adding a new element to the team. "Jeff, Dusty and Heidi are looking great right now and I'm looking forward to going back up there," explained team owner Billy Whitley. "I really like the Canadian series and the whole race team is excited about going up there."

Gibson and Klatt will be riding the Kawasaki KX450F in the MX1 Class and Cooke will be riding her Kawasaki KX250F in the Womens class. "Last year, we didn't get to do too much testing since the deal was put together pretty late," said team manager Derek Sorenson. "We are already way ahead of the curve and all three riders are excited about the performance of the bikes."

The Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki Racing Team will begin its title defense this weekend in Ste. Julie, Quebec. Look for the Kawasaki riders to be out front and on the podium.

Rider Comments

Jeff Gibson: "I'm feeling good about the Canadian season. Last year I started off slow and it took me a while to get going. I felt strong at the last few rounds of supercross so I'm hoping to take that momentum into Canada. Plus, now that I have a year of Canadian racing under my belt, I feel like I'm more prepared."

Dusty Klatt: "Testing went very well and I was able to get the bike dialed in quickly. I'm excited to be able to stay home for the summer and I'll get to see a lot of old faces."

Heidi Cooke: "I feel a little pressure to defend the title and because I'm riding for a big team. During testing I really got to ride a lot and the bike is absolutely awesome. It's the best bike I've ever ridden so I am very excited to defend the title on a Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki bike."
