Maxxis EnduroCross Wrap Up

Eric Peronnard and Tim Clark, the owners of Pro-Motion Motorsports, LLC - the promoting group for the Maxxis EnduroCross, would like to extend a sincere "thank you" to all of the sponsors, racers, spectators and those who provided invaluable, behind-the-scenes help to make this year's Maxxis EnduroCross a true success. Here are some of the highlights:

41-year-old motocross legend, John Dowd, was the overall winner - narrowly beating Team Green Kawasaki's Nathan Woods. Third place went to last year's champion, David Knight. Dowd went home with both the AMA Number One Plate and a $10,000 check. Fourth place was Eric Rhoten followed by Matt Karlson, Homero Diaz, Geoff Aaron, Ryan Dudek, Nick Montzoros and Nick Brozovich.

The event was a complete "Sell-Out" with nearly 7,000 highly enthusiastic fans packed into the Orleans Arena.

The announcers for the event were Jerry Bernardo - on the floor - and Jason Weigandt calling the race action from above.

There were 180 Qualifier Round entries for Friday's event. Ten of these riders made it into Saturday night's program with three of them making it all the way to the Maxxis EnduroCross final ten riders - they were Eric Rhoten (who finished 4th overall), Matt Karlson (finished 3rd) and Nick Mantzoros (finished 9th).

John Dowd had his own cheering section of over 50 fans sporting yellow "Dowdy" shirts and clapping thundersticks. ThumperTalk.com was also in attendance with their own cheering section of over 100 of their members - all wearing black ThumperTalk t-shirts.

Rider Nick Mantzoros helped put the trials community on the map by driving over 2,500 miles from Pennsylvania with his girlfriend in the front seat and his Sherco trials bike in the back of his trunk. Nick then went on to hammer out more than 40 laps on the grueling Maxxis EnduroCross track to work his way through the Qualifier Rounds on Friday and into the Saturday night final. Nick quickly became a crowd favorite.

This year's Maxxis EnduroCross will be shown on SPEED Channel. There will be two telecasts of the event, the first showing is scheduled for Saturday, January 13, 2007 at 7:00pm Eastern. The program will be repeated on Sunday, January 14, 2007 at 11:00am Eastern (Note: Times are subject to change.)

Tickets for the 2007 event (scheduled for November 17, 2007) were placed On Sale during the evening of this year's event.
