PODIUM DOMINATION FOR MAX AIR DEBUT

Malcolm Smith Racing Sweeps GNCC

April 13, 2015 Irvine, CA — From the very first Baja 1000 to the latest GNCC round, MSR (Malcolm Smith Racing) continues to lead the way! Case and point, total podium domination for the MSR Racing crew this weekend at the Grand National Cross Country round at the VP Racing Fuels Big Buck in Union, South Carolina this weekend. The new MAX AIR gear made its GNCC competition debut in fine style from the podium with three 1st place positions, two 2nds and a third.

"Our guys — and gals — dominated this weekend at the Big Buck GNCC," says an elated MSR Brand Manager Nick McBride. "We had a clean sweep of the Quads and Women’s classes." Team Yamaha phenom Walker Fowler started things off right with the XC1 Quad Win, while Cole Richardson made it four-in-a-row by winning the XC2 Quad class. Former women's MX champ Jessica Patterson was money as she took the Women's class win, just ahead of fellow MSR MAX AIR-equipped racer Becca Sheets. Layne Michael rode to hard-fought 2nd in the XC2 class and Grant Baylor rounded out the XC1 podium in 3rd."

"Better gear makes for better performance, especially in a race as grueling as the Big Buck GNCC round in South Carolina," says McBride. "Rather than being distracted by itchy collars, getting arm pump from constrictive cuffs, design elements like our stretch collars, complete with a Lycra™ dam to prevent dirt and sand irritating the neck area, and comfortable Lycra™ micro cuffs to help prevent arm pump mean the racers can devote 100% focus to the race course."

Speaking of the course, the Big Buck is unique in terms of terrain (including the infamous creek crossing) and the dirt itself. Event organizer Racer Promotions cautions, "the soil at Big Buck is unique. It isn't a sandy soil that people associate with South Carolina. It's more of a clay base that can get slick when it's wet, and gets very silty and almost feels like sand when it's dry." This puts a premium on good gear and ventilation!

"As the lightest and most ventilated riding gear ever offered by MSR, we couldn't have asked for a better way to prove its effectiveness," adds McBride. "The heart and soul of what makes a champion continue as MSR proves from the top of the podium everywhere!" Best of all, the same gear that wins on Sunday is available to everyone on Monday via your MSR retailer.
