MDK/WWR's Voss And Hadsell Post Season Best Results At Daytona

Newbury Park, CA. MDK/Wonder Warthog Racing (WWR) continued to thrive in the main events as Team Captain Heath Voss and Tyson Hadsell overcame the harshest of race conditions and landed their top finishes of the season.

Timed qualifying saw a track that was very wet yet still passable. The defining event for the team in the qualifying session was a bad crash by Ryan Mills. Ryan twisted his neck and was sent to the hospital for further evaluation. The prognosis for Ryan is very good and we should see him back in time for the Minneapolis Supercross.

MDK/WWR riders Heath Voss (sponsored by the Air Force and Mastercraft) and MDK Speed-equipped Tyson Hadsell qualified directly from their heats to main events. Also of note from the heats was what could be described as the lap of a lifetime for Serious MX/Full Throttle/WWR’s Mike McDade. Mike showed that he is a great mud rider as he challenged Ryan Villopoto for the lead. Unfortunately, the pass attempt left Mike stranded in a three foot deep pool of mud and effectively ended his amazing ride.

Conditions totally deteriorated drastically in the main events. It became the mud race of all mud races. The entire track turned into one big mud bog while it continued to torrentially rain. Heath, after a 13th place start, showed his mud riding skills he developed growing up in Minnesota. He picked off rider after rider and outlasted most of them to find himself in 4th place on the last lap. Although he crashed that lap, he still finished 6th place in what was one of his best rides ever. Tyson Hadsell rode steady in his main to finish 15th.

Of the 10 MDK/WWR riders pitted out of the DeCal Works Hog Haven, 9 made the evening program. Joining Voss, in the Supercross class were Ryan Abrigo, Barry Carsten, Jiri Dostal, Chris Gosselaar, and Manu Rivas. In addition to Hadsell, McDade, and Mills, the Lites class was rounded out by TJ Tiffany.

The Ride Smooth Award, presented by Smooth Industries, went to Tyson Hadsell as the top Lites finisher.

Mike Koger, Founder of Smooth Industries, said, “Daytona was a tough event but the team responded. Heath knocked it out of the park with his 6th place and Tyson put himself where he belongs – in the main.”
