Gary Bailey to be honored at Budds Creek National
Merced, Calif. ~ June 14, 2011:
Professor Gary Bailey will be honored during the Lucas Oil AMA Pro
Motocross Championship round at Budds Creek this Saturday by the Legends
& Heroes of Motocross Tour. Bailey, a pioneer of the sport of
motocross racing in the US, began winning AMA nationals in the early
1970s, and later parlayed his racing experience into the nation's top
motocross racing school. Bailey also was an early designer of
Supercross courses. He has designed the Daytona Supercross track from
the beginning of that race in the early 1970s. The stepfather of
motocross great David Bailey, Gary trained David as well as numerous
other national champions during their formative years of learning the
sport.

White, formally of White Brothers and the curator of the early days of
motocross museum, states, “Gary Bailey was the ultimate student of the
sport of Motocross. When the top European riders showcased the sport of
motocross in America in the late 60s, Bailey studied their techniques
and soon became the fastest of the American riders, often beating the
more experienced Euro riders. He has repaid the sport for years
training riders, building race courses, and sharing the passion!”

the Legends & Heroes Tour display to meet with the fans, sign
