Press Release

Laier and Lancelot Back to Action for Third Edition of FIM Women’s World Championship

FUNCHAL
(PORTUGAL), 30 March 2010 – The third edition of the FIM Women’s
Motocross
World Championship will begin this weekend at the Sevlievo race
track which
is by tradition the host of the series’ opening round. Having won
the Title
last year, Stephanie Laier will face again archrival Livia Lancelot
back to
action after last year’s shoulder injury.

This year Laier and Lancelot, so far the
only female racers to have won rounds in this Championship, will be
both on
a KTM machine. Laier of Germany has kept her place in the Red Bull
KTM
Factory Racing MX2 team and will display the number one this year.

Lancelot instead has entered the KTM HDI
MX team after a long Kawasaki experience. The French, who was the
first
Women’s World Champion in 2008, was leading also last year’s series
until a
shoulder injury stopped her at the German Grand Prix. From then on
Laier
took over the leader’s board and went on to win her maiden World
Title.

Papenmeier of Teka Suzuki Europe World
MX2 took second in the Championship last year and is ready for
another
exciting season. After a slow start last year, Papenmeier started
taking
back to back podiums and worked her way up to the top three, leaving
compatriot Franke behind.

The latter has also made a KTM move for
the forthcoming season. Franke will steer a Diga KTM machine as she
hopes
to improve on last year’s fourth place.

Another KTM mounted rider will be last
year’s third placed in the Championship Kane. The Irish entered the
HM
Plant Red Bull KTM UK team which will support her during the chase
for the
World Title.

Mann will be back to make up for the
fifth place of last year while young gun Fontanesi on Yamaha will
try to
confirm her speed after taking her maiden moto win and overall
podium at
Lierop last year.

Having the full support of the LS Motors
Honda team, American speed star Ashley Fiolek will give the World
Title a
go this year starting off from round one at Sevlievo this weekend.
