Laier, Papenmeier and Franke Make it a Home Podium as Lancelot Pulls Out With an Injured Shoulder

TEUTSCHENTHAL (GERMANY), 21 June 2009 – With defending Champion Lancelot sidelined by a right shoulder injury, Laier won at home to snatch the red plate from the French.

The podium was completed by Papenmeier and Franke for an all German top three.

Despite a dislocated shoulder from last week, Lancelot tried to race this fifth round but she could not even end the first moto yesterday. Today Lancelot did not even line up for the final heat as her presence in the remaining two rounds in Sweden and Holland is doubtful.

It was an all German podium at Teutschenthal for round 5 of the WMX series

Taking another victory after yesterday’s first heat, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Laier topped her home podium and brought home 50 valuable points to snatch the red plate from Lancelot, who had it since round one in Bulgaria.

Second on the podium was Papenmeier of Teka Suzuki Europe World MX2 who took her fourth consecutive podium finish and made up for a difficult German round in 2008, when she did not make it to the podium.

Papenmeier ended heat two in third place after she was overtaken by compatriot Franke of Kawasaki Elf Pfeil who took second eventually. Franke completed an all German podium as the home trio was followed by Kane and De Mol rounding off the top five.

Papenmeier is now second in the Championship standings right ahead of Kawasaki duo Lancelot and Franke.
