Kawasaki Racing Team Rolls Through Thunder Valley

Villopoto rockets KX™250F to fourth straight Motocross Lites overall victory of the season

Lakewood, Colo. (July 23, 2006) – Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider, Ryan Villopoto, gave a championship caliber performance aboard his Kawasaki KX250F as the 2006 AMA/Motocross Series came to Thunder Valley MX Park, near Lakewood Colo., this weekend. The 17-year-old rookie sensation from Poulsbo, Wash., got out front early in the first moto and never looked back. He rode incredibly fast to gain an 11 second lead over the field by the halfway point and won the race by nearly three seconds. Villopoto carried his momentum straight into the second moto by capturing the holeshot straight out of the gate but unfortunately crashed a short time later. Despite the mishap, Villopoto regained the lead by lap four and went unchallenged for the remainder of the moto. His 1-1 finish for the day awarded him with his fourth straight overall victory and a 23 point lead in the AMA Motocross Lites standings. Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider, Troy Adams, struggled slightly in the first moto but regained confidence in the second moto finishing 17-7 and 11th overall for the weekend.

In Motocross action, Kawasaki Racing Team rider, James Stewart, remained resilient despite a series of minor injuries sustained from a practice crash last week to score a second place finish in the first moto. Stewart unfortunately endured a tough start in the second moto and was forced to fight his way up from mid-pack to fourth-place before fading back into fifth-place as the final laps wound down. His gritty determination awarded him with third overall for the weekend. Stewart’s teammate, Michael Byrne, put forth a calculated effort in both motos going 6-8 to finish seventh overall for the weekend.

Kawasaki Racing Team and Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki head to Washougal MX Park in Washougal Wash., on July 30, for round seven in the series.
