Kawasaki Racing Team Blasts Through Binghamton

Villopoto pilots KX™250F to second place overall for the weekend

Binghamton, N.Y. – Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider, Ryan Villopoto, put in another championship caliber performance aboard his Kawasaki KX250F as the 2006 AMA/Motocross Series came to Broome-Tioga Sports Center, near Binghamton, N.Y., this weekend. The 17-year-old rookie sensation from Poulsbo, Wash., had a rough start in the first moto but rode incredibly fast to gain 15 positions in as many laps before crossing the finish in fourth. Villopoto’s teammate, Troy Adams, had his best Motocross Lites showing of the season and the first podium finish of his career after he crossed the stripe in third place. Villopoto carried his momentum into the second moto by capturing the holeshot straight out of the gate and went unchallenged for the remainder of the moto. His 4-1 finish for the day awarded him with second overall and returned him to an 18 point lead in the AMA Motocross Lites standings. Adams struggled slightly in the second moto but finished 21st to capture tenth overall for the weekend. Adams’ teammate, Chris Gosselaar, went 17-24 for 21st overall.

In Motocross action, Kawasaki Racing Team rider, James Stewart, put forth a determined effort to reel-in leader Ricky Carmichael in the first moto but remained in second for the duration of the 15-lap feature. In the second moto, Stewart left the gate in fourth but quickly jumped into the lead after three laps. Stewart spent the next six laps out front on his KX™450F before relinquishing the lead to Carmichael who eventually took the win. Stewart’s 2-2 finish awarded him with second overall for the weekend. Stewart’s teammate, Michael Byrne, went 16-38 to finish 21st overall for the weekend.

Kawasaki Racing Team and Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki head to Steel City Raceway in Delmont, Pa., on September 3, for round eleven in the series.
