KTM dominates UEM EMX125 podium in Agueda

AGUEDA (Portugal), 10 June 2012 – The first ones to go out to the track this morning were the UEM EMX125 riders to dispute the second race of the third round of the series. The track conditions were tougher today for the young riders due to the rain, but it did not stop Tim Gajser to dominate the second race from beginning to the end.

KTM Silver Action’s Tim Gajser took the holeshot of the second race today and he easily opened a big gap with his pursuers. The Slovenian rider crossed the finish line 47 seconds ahead second classified James Dunn and obtained the third overall round victory of the season. At the moment Gajser is leading the championship with 44 points advantage over Bonini.

Second overall was Calvin Vlaanderen thanks to his 2-3 result. The young Dutch rider admitted that yesterday he enjoyed a lot racing the Portuguese track, but today he struggled a bit more because the track was rougher due to the rain. It is the second time that the KTM Bodo Schmidt Motorsport rider is on the podium and thanks to such result, he has moved up one position in the championship and he is now third just four points behind Davide Bonini.

KTM HM Plant UK’s James Dunn was fourth yesterday in the first heat, but today he did an outstanding race and after a great start he kept the initial second position until the chequered flag. The British rider obtained his maiden podium of the season today after finishing third overall, and he has moved from ninth to fifth in the point standings.

Team Castellari’s Simone Furlotti missed the second round of the series in Italy as he was recovering from an injury, but this weekend has proved that he is fully fit again after finishing fourth overall. The Italian rider was fifth yesterday and today he could have finished third of even second, but he crash while he was riding third and had to settle down with the final fourth position.

Team Ufo Corse Maglia Azzura’s Davide Bonini completed the top five after finishing sixth yesterday and fifth today. The Italian rider had some problems with his goggles yesterday and he could barely see. Today, although he succeeded in racing third at some point of the heat, he could only cross the finish line fifth.

Magne Klingsheim was third yesterday, but his tenth position in the second heat today made him finish sixth overall. Anton Lundgren was seventh, Joel Van Mechelen was eighth and Iker Larrañaga and Alessio Della Mora completed the top ten.
