AMA Motocross Lites results: New Berlin, NY: Round 6 (17.07.2006)

At one of the toughest tracks on the U.S. Motocross circuit, Mike Alessi battled extreme fatigue to finish third for the day with a first and a seventh place finish, while Red Bull KTM teammate Nathan Ramsey collected a tenth place finish and then a spot on the podium in third, finishing sixth for the day.

The famed Unadilla MX track was doused in rain on Saturday resulting in muddy and rugged conditions on Sunday. With temperatures reaching 95 degrees, Mike Alessi shot off the gate in moto one and grabbed the holeshot and led the race from start to finish, winning by 4 seconds. Nathan Ramsey was shoved to the back of the pack in twentieth, but put his head down and charged all the way up to tenth. The youngest member of the Red Bull KTM Team, Zach Osborne had a great start in sixth place and maintained that position until his bike experienced problems and he was forced to pull off the track.

In moto two, it was Nathan Ramsey who had the best start and positioned himself directly behind the leader. Ryan Villopoto, Andrew Short, Nathan Ramsey and Josh Grant huddled together and shuffled positions throughout the race until Villopoto, Short and Ramsey solidly placed themselves in positions one through three. Alessi put in a huge effort battling back from a bad start and fighting fatigue due to high temperatures and humidity and a bad case of tonsillitis. He placed seventh. Zach Osborne again made a valiant effort but couldn’t find a rhythm during his first visit to the New York track. He placed twentieth.
