Julien Vanni Continues His Predominance

TALAVERA DE LA REINA (SPAIN), 19 April 2009 – French Honda rider Julien Vanni (Team MB) won also the second event for the FIM MX3 World Championship in Talavera de la Reina this weekend. Italian rider Alex Salvini (Husqvarna Tecno B) finished second, home rider Alvaro Lozano (Yamaha Ausio Racing Team) was third.

It was another successful weekend for Vanni. He won, but he was very angry crossing finish line as the third in the second race. Czech rider Martin Zerava (Honda) took the fastest start, but his leadership lasted only one lap. Then Vanni came from his back and started catching the win. Matevz Irt (Honda) from the Team MB surprised with the fast start, he was just behind his teammate Vanni. Only one crash was enough for losing the good position. Vanni was controlling his position till the end and won the first race. Italian Husqvarna rider Alex Salvini started from fifth position and with the preserving riding he progressed to the third place. Christophe Martin (Husqvarna, France) finished fourth and Pierre Alexandre Renet (Suzuki, France) was fifth. The best home rider was Alvaro Lozano (Yamaha, Spain), finished sixth.

Nicolai Maercher Hansen (Suzuki, Denmark) was excellent at the second start. Also his leadership did not last for a long time, because Vanni came in front, again. Finnish rider Antti Pyrhonen (Honda) made good first part of the race, when he was holding the second position, he finished fifth at the end. What Lozano missed in the first race, he compensated in the second. He was riding under the pressure and support of home spectators. Lozano was also more self-confident, after he got a good feeling in the first race. Nobody could stop him on the way to the first place. Alex Salvini took one more average start and he had to work hard to finish on podium. After the start he was riding better. He passed Vanni, but the advantage of Lozano was too big to reach him. Salvini finished second in the second race. Vanni was third and Pierre Alexandre Renet was fourth. Hansen lost some more positions and finished eighth.

The winner of the second MX3 World Championship event was Julien Vanni, who is leading in the Championship Classification. Salvini finally finished on the podium, while he was far away from it at the first event. He was second. Home rider Lozano was third. In the MX3 World Championship Classification Renet progressed to the second place, Pyrhonen is third, Christophe Martin (Husqvarna) fourth and his teammate Salvini is on the fifth position with only one point less.

Next round of the FIM MX3 World Championship will be 3rd May in Cortelha, Portugal.

RIDER'S COMMENTS

1st JULIEN VANNI (France): »In my opinion this race was not too good for me, I am not very satisfied. In the second race I crashed in last five laps, so Alex Salvini and Alvaro Lozano passed me. My bike was excellent prepared, same as in England. My team is doing a great job, we are good organized. Today I was competing in Talavera de la Reina for the first time and I have to say I liked the race track. It was well prepared.«

2nd ALEX SALVINI (Italy): »This event was better than the first one. After the last season I changed the bike, the team and also the Championship. I had been working hard before the season that I used to all the novelties. Before I was riding Suzuki bike, which was completely different as Husqvarna. My both starts were bad and this was my problem today. The second race was better, I was riding for all or nothing and I attacked as much as I could. The bike is becoming better and better. I think we are on the good way to success with the team. We are a big team and we are working hard. The race track was good prepared and there were many spectators. I enjoyed today.«

3rd ALVARO LOZANO (Spain): »I can not say I am satisfied with my results. In England I could not start the race, I still felt the pain in the stomach. I crashed badly last year and on the first event I did not feel good. Today I was riding gropingly in the first race, I did not want to risk. In the second race I felt better, I got the right feeling and I was riding with the whole power. I am riding Yamaha bike after I was riding KTM eight years, so everything is good for me and I need some more time to know my bike better.«
