Jeff Ward Racing High Point Report

At the fourth round of the 2012 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship at High Point Raceway in Mt. Morris, Pa., DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing rider Kyle Chisholm scored a 14-12 to finish 12th overall in the 450 class leading the charge for his team during the High Point National on Saturday. His teammate Josh Grant finished 15th overall after suffering an unfortunate flat tire early in the second 450 Moto that would leave him to retire the race on lap 4. In the first 450 Moto, Grant rode to a solid top-10 finishing tenth.

Leading up to the two 450 class Motos, Grant finished his Group A first qualifying practice 10th fastest with a lap time of 2:14.622. Chisholm, who was also in Group A finished his first qualifying practice 17th fastest with a lap time of 2:15.860. In the final Group A qualifying session, Chisholm finished 13th quickest with a lap time of 2:12.759 to put him 13th fastest overall. Grant ended the final session 14th quickest with a lap time of 2:12.907 putting him 14th fastest overall.

The two teammates lined up side-by-side in the first 450 Moto with both getting out to a top-15 start after the drop of the gates. By lap 6 Grant made his way into the top-10 where he would remain for the remainder of the Moto finishing 10th. Chisholm fell in line in the 15th spot out of the gates and would hang there until lap 12 when he took over the 14th position where he would finish. In the second 450 Moto, Grant experienced a flat tire early on lap 4 that forced him to retire the race and leave him with a 38th place finish. His teammate Chisholm ran another steady race to bring home his second top-15 on the day finishing 12th.

Grant’s 15th overall finish moves him back two spots to ninth in the championship standings with 84 points. Chisholm’s 12th overall finish keeps him 10th in the standings with 66 points. Up next for the DNA Energy Drink / Jeff Ward Racing team is Round 5 at Budds Creek in Mechanicsville, Md. on June 16.
