JGRMX and James Stewart Mutually Agree to Part Ways 7

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (May 6, 2012) – Effective immediately, JGRMX (Joe Gibbs Racing - Motocross) and James Stewart Jr. have mutually agreed to release Stewart from his contract for all Racing and Media Relations responsibilities that were assumed by him at the beginning of the 2012 racing season.  We wish to thank James for his contributions and wish him the very best for the future.

Watching James from the start of the SX season he never looked comfortable on the bike and his setup looked ill. That rear end never tracked and was all over the place. My question is this, Is JGR trying to over engineer the bike? This is not the first time that a rider and bike never worked.

They tried everything to make that bike more comfortable for James riding style and it never seemed to fit. As most of you know who have raced that none of the brands feel the same and each suites individual riding styles. Yamaha has a very distinct handling character all its own. I think that is why Millsaps (6' 190lbs) did so well. the YZF450 seems to agree better with bigger riders. James being vertically challenged at '5'4" and 145 lbs ..............James and Millsaps riding style as se different James over the front and Millsap more neutral and over the back because of his size.

But having said that James never really seemed in to it, like he was distracted and would loose concentration on the track. BOREDOM?

I hope that James can get it back together and retap into the LOVE he once had! Would be interesting to see James on a Honda!

Sure looked like Davi Millsaps had no issues with the Yamaha and he wasent the top dog in that camp either. So how can could U say it was the bike? Stewart has not preformed in years. He has crashed on every brand bike he has threw his leg across. JGR put sunk ALOT into Stewart and he just can't produce results and thats the bottom line. Way to go DAVI

James Stewart is still the James Stewart from some years ago ..It's Yamaha who fucked it up by making this shitty motorcycle with backwards engine ..Hope James get a good deal (Suzuki i hope) and can give it his all in the outdoors !

Backwards? The Yamaha has a different angle to it, and the intake and exhaust are reversed. I'm not sure that it's backwards.

The sad thing in all of this is the money, time and effort that JGR expended on Stewart only to have this happen. It will be interesting to see how long it will take him to adjust to new equipment and a new team. More interesting will be his results and the consistency with which he delivers them!
