JGRMX Begins World Tour in Paris, France

The SPIKE Hardcore Energy Toyota/Yamaha Team goes global

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 30 2008) – Not content to sit idle prior to the start of the 2009 AMA Supercross Series, an FIM World Championship on Jan. 3 2009, Joe Gibbs Racing, Motocross (titled as The SPIKE Hardcore Energy/Toyota/Yamaha Team) is traveling to France, Switzerland, and Dubai to race internationally during the U.S. off-season.

The first stop on the tour will be Paris, France, for the 26th annual Bercy Supercross on Nov. 7-9 held in the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy. Josh Grant will debut his SPIKE Hardcore Energy/Yamaha/Toyota YZ450F along with JGRMX test rider and Bercy Supercross veteran, Eric Sorby. Grant, who will be racing the 450 Class for the first time, and Sorby, a native of Marseille, France, will both be vying for the coveted King of Bercy title.

Cody Cooper will join Grant and Sorby in La Voie de Moens, Geneva for the International Supercross Geneva on Dec. 5-6. The race will be held at the Geneva Palexpo, and marks the 23rd running of this annual international event, as well as Cody’s first race on the SPIKE Hardcore Energy/Toyota/Yamaha YZ450F.

Concluding the tour, the trio of Grant, Cooper, and Sorby will race the inaugural Dubai X Games World Cup on Dec. 11–13 in Dubai, UAE. A collaborative effort between ESPN and Dubai Event Management Corporation (DEMC), the Dubai X Games World Cup is the world’s richest singular, multi-sport, action sports event. There will be a 2.5 million dollar prize purse – a record for X Games and the action sports industry, as well as 5 hours of original ESPN programming around the globe.

“With Josh new to the 450, and Cody focused on adapting to supercross, we felt these international races were a perfect way for us to see where we were against the competition going into Anaheim on Jan. 3,” said Coy Gibbs, JGRMX team owner.
