JDR Motorex KTM leads Australasian Supercross into Maitland

JDR Motorex KTM again heads both
categories in the Super X, Australasian Supercross Championship, entering
tomorrow’s penultimate round of the 2011 season at Maitland Oval in
New South Wales.

The factory KTM
team has been in exceptional form of late, with 19-year-old Bourke resident
Tye Simmonds leading the Pro Open points chase aboard the 450 SX-F, while
Matt Moss and his 250 SX-F currently top the Pro Lites
leaderboard.

Simmonds, who won the
series’ opening round, returned to the top of the point standings
with a third position in Sydney last weekend, now holding a slim
single-point advantage with just two rounds to run.

“Every point counts this year, so I’m just
taking it one round at a time and really focusing on what I can do,”
Simmonds said. “It feels good to lead the series with a couple of
rounds to go, but there’s a lot of work to do yet if we want to get
that number one plate.”

Simmonds will be joined in the premier class by fellow 450
rider Dan Reardon and Wollongong’s Ryan Marmont, who campaigns the
350 SX-F. Both have featured on the podium so far this season. Marmont is
fifth in the series to date, while Reardon sits seventh.

In the Pro Lites class it has been Moss leading
from the outset, however additional pressure from JDR Motorex KTM teammate
Brenden Harrison was applied last Saturday night as he claimed his first
career Super X win.

A fourth place
for Moss was enough to keep him at the pointy end of the field, however his
advantage rests at just three points ahead of tomorrow’s penultimate
clash.

“Last weekend was
disappointing for me, but this weekend is a new round and I’m going
to try hard to get back on top of that podium,” Moss said. “The
team has been working hard, so hopefully it is dry and we can put on a good
show.”

The Super X,
Australasian Supercross Championship, will reach its penultimate round next
weekend in Maitland, NSW, for round four in the 2011 series on Saturday, 12
November.
