"It will provide an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the quality and performance of Husqvarna supermoto bikes." No stranger to the sport, Husqvarna is the two-time defending S1 Supermoto title holder. Most recently, World Supermoto champ Adrien Chareyre put a stock Husqvarna SM450 onto the podium at X Games 15.

The 12-lap Husqvarna Challenge Cup race will take place between the amateur and professional main events during final round action of the MISupermoto season. Up to 20 Husqvarna riders of all skill levels will participate. Should entries exceed 20, the Challenge Cup field will be divided into two 12-lap races organized by skill level."

"We are incredibly excited to present this first Husqvarna Challenge Cup Race," said Dave Duprey, owner of MISupermoto and a professional supermoto racer himself. "The fact that Husqvarna is making such an investment in both the promotion and sponsorship of this race is good for supermoto, not only here in the Midwest but also across the country. We look forward to the opportunity to support Husqvarna's Challenge Cup Race and putting on an exciting show."

SM 450 R Husqvarna has agreed to put up a significant purse. The Challenge Cup winner receives a $1,000 gift certificate that can be used at any Husqvarna motorcycle dealership in the Midwest. Second-place will receive a $500 gift certificate, and the third place finisher gets a $250 gift certificate. Gift certificates can be used for any purchase including a new motorcycle, parts, accessories, apparel or service at any Husqvarna dealer in Illinois, Michigan, Ohio or Wisconsin.

According to Brady, a positive response to this first Challenge Cup Race could set the stage for a multi-race Challenge Cup Series in 2010. Among the possible incentives for racers to participate in a 2010 series could be significantly discounted Husqvarna supermoto race bikes and a free racing jersey for each participant. Details for the proposed 2010 Challenge Cup series would be finalized this winter after evaluating the success of the inaugural event.
